Center for International Exchange

In order to keep up with the international era, the Center for International Exchange pursues cooperation opportunities with foreign universities and institutes for advancement of CCUT.

This Institute aims to reach its goal of globalization and to increase research and teaching quality through international exchange activities and the academic programs of international double degrees. The Center for International Exchange was established to integrate international exchange activities. Policies and guidelines have been established to encourage instructors to participate in international research collaboration and to attend international conferences for improving their teaching and research quality. For students, there is the Studying Abroad Counseling Committee.  Scholarships and study-abroad counseling are available for undergraduates and graduates to go on international exchange programs abroad during regular semesters and vacations.

As of February 2011, Chung Chou has established sister-institute relationships and signed International Academic Exchange Agreements with more than fifty Universities in America, England, Japan, Australia, the Philippines, Thailand, Mainland China, and others. Distinguished scholars from Ohio State University in USA, Chiang Mai University in Thailand, Kyoto University in Japan and Kassel University in Germany are regularly invited to give speeches and lectures.    In 2010, outstanding scholars from Georgia State University and Elon University in USA ,and Ateneo University in Philippines will lecture at CCUT on short-term exchange program.  CCUT professors have been invited by the sister-institutes abroad as well.  CCUT has arranged successful visits of overseas professors and assisted the departments to hold international lectures, conferences or symposia. Furthermore, the Institute has had student exchange activities with more than ten sister institutes in USA, Malaysia, Thailand and Mainland China.

CCUT faculty and students see  the international exchange opportunity a plus to enhance the idea of global village, “It’s been really useful in that respect to put students and professors from different countries together so we can let our ideas bounce off each other and see things with a whole new aspect that we have never thought before,” says Jia-Lin Wu, one of the students in the Department of Landscape Architecture, after studying together with exchange students from Thailand

CCUT will utilize the resources from the Central Government and local government to impel itself forward to respond to the state of the world and the pulse of society.  The administration will develop new direction as needed and create necessary distinctive features.  CCUT will cultivate students’ global view through “Master Leading”, and carry out “social concerns” to foster refined professional talent for the country and the world.  Meanwhile, CCUT will push toward the goal of upgrading this university of technology with teaching excellence through applied research and extended social services.
