MOE Minister Wu attended the unveiling ceremony and celebration of Chung Chou University of Science and Technology

Under the guidance of President Hwang and efforts of all faculty and students, CCUT has been approved by Ministry of Education in Taiwan and renamed Chung Chou University of Science and Technology. On August 5th, an unveiling ceremony and celebration was held at CCUT. Minster of Education, Dr. Chin-ji Wu, Magistrate of Changhua, Mr. Po-Yuan Cho, and Direct of Education Bureau of New Taipei City Government, Mr. Teng-jiao Lin and CCUT former President, Dr. Tso-kwei Peng attended the ceremony and celebration to witness the historical moment of CCUT.

Since the establishment of the Chung Chou Vocational Institute of Engineering, each successive president stands firmly for the motto of “excellence, impartiality, integrity and perseverance”. In 1969, approved by Ministry of Education, Chung Chou Junior College of Engineering was founded with the emphasis on cultivating excellent workforce for companies in Central Taiwan. In 1991 commercial disciplines were added, and the school’s name changed to ‘Chung Chou Junior College of Commerce and Technology.’ In 2000, reflecting a further elevation in status, the school upgraded to ‘Chung Chou Institute of Technology,’ providing undergraduate and graduate programs and offering bachelor’s and master’s degree. In March 2007, Dr. Peng Tso-Kwei, former Council of Agriculture Minister and former National Chung Hsing University President, took office as the President. He guided the transformation of CCUT into one of the nation’s best technological and vocational institutes. Dr. Peng committed the institute to international engagement, and to setting a new standard for private technological universities and colleges.

In September 2010 the Board of Trustees had the honor of hiring Dr. Jenq-Jye Hwang to be the President of CCUT, who was appointed to be the Director General of The Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education from 2000 to 2001, and the Director General of Technological and Vocational Education from 1997 to 2000. After that, Dr. Hwang took the office of President of The National University of Tainan, Taiwan. President Hwang has focused on enhanced teaching quality as well as making great improvements to campus landscaping and strengthening innovative university ideas and affairs to lie a firm foundation for future development.

Chung Chou University of Science of Technology will continue to pursue teaching excellence. It has three colleges composed of 16 undergraduate programs and 2 graduate programs.

College of Engineering has one graduate institute and five departments. Now, we have established the ‘Industrial Technology and Bike Development Research Center’ which allies itself with well-known equipment developers. CCUT employs a ‘learn from doing’ style of education to cultivate talent in the area of product design and creative design.

College of management has five departments, which maintains the feature of ERP fostering talent for the advancement of corporate resource planning, nurturing social needs, affirming enterprise value, and promoting knowledge and ability for enterprise resource planning. An established “Center for Management Diagnosis of Small and Medium Enterprises” aims at the operation of small to medium enterprises, for the systematic introduction of knowledge and skills, offers advice for the operational improvement of enterprises and diagnostic consulting services.

College of Health has one graduate institute and six departments. Distinctiveness and direction will be developed in health care promotion and the health industry through research, innovation, technology, and service. Through combining domestic area strengths, cooperative alliances can be formed to serve the economic interests of industry in central Taiwan. With an established “Center for Health Food Development and Inspection”, interrelated research and development can be actively promoted to improve the capacity for industry-academia cooperation and research.

Chung Chou University of Science and Technology will utilize the resources from the Central Government and local government to impel itself forward to respond to the state of the world and the pulsation of society to foster refined professional talent for the country.
